有人說圖書館是一所學(xué)校的靈魂所在,稱其為校園里離夢(mèng)想最近的地方。這里簡(jiǎn)單,凝聚了文化的饋贈(zèng),蘊(yùn)含著墨水清香。文字無言,所有的視線都定格在書頁間。寒暑交替之中知識(shí)的累積,或許是圖書館在孩子成長(zhǎng)過程中最長(zhǎng)情的陪伴。
一所建在圖書館里的學(xué)校
天悅,是一所建在圖書館里的學(xué)校,圖書館是學(xué)校建設(shè)的重要元素,既是傳統(tǒng)意義上的集成式閱讀場(chǎng)館,同時(shí)也是學(xué)校所倡導(dǎo)的一種概念,“打破場(chǎng)所的壁壘,讓校園處處都是圖書館,讓閱讀成為孩子們了解世界的方式”。
天悅圖書館設(shè)置在主樓二層,這不僅是個(gè)傳統(tǒng)意義上,通過圖書借閱共享知識(shí)和文化的場(chǎng)館,更力求打造成一個(gè)多元?jiǎng)?chuàng)新的智慧空間。學(xué)校目前已訂購英文原版圖書12000余冊(cè),包括獲獎(jiǎng)圖書,名著系列和全球暢銷繪本、圖冊(cè)等,涉及歷史、科學(xué)、地理、文學(xué)以及教學(xué)資源等不同學(xué)科領(lǐng)域。此外中文書籍會(huì)在不久后陸續(xù)采購,隨著學(xué)校的發(fā)展,圖書館藏也將不斷增加。
在這個(gè)總面積近800平方米的圖書館內(nèi),空間設(shè)計(jì)精巧而又人性化,低齡學(xué)生的書籍將全部放在觸手可及的區(qū)域。圖書館被分為開架借閱空間、安靜閱讀空間、互動(dòng)空間以及多媒體室。借閱區(qū)將設(shè)置分級(jí)讀本區(qū),既有適合低齡閱讀的彩圖繪本,也有適合高年級(jí)欣賞的名著佳篇。在互動(dòng)空間將不定期舉辦閱讀活動(dòng)以及各類書展,向?qū)W生推薦與自己閱讀能力相匹配優(yōu)質(zhì)圖書,此外這里還是每周圖書館課的課堂。
立體流動(dòng)式的體驗(yàn)課堂
天悅從小學(xué)階段起,每周設(shè)有圖書館課。在圖書館課上,由專業(yè)的圖書館老師選一本書為孩子們朗讀,之后引導(dǎo)孩子們討論文中情節(jié),講述自己的感受。孩子們通常會(huì)各抒己見進(jìn)行多層面的交流,這是在語言教學(xué)越來越趨向于回歸本真之后,閱讀重要作用的顯現(xiàn)。學(xué)生往往通過一節(jié)圖書館課被某個(gè)故事吸引,迷上了某一本書,慢慢愛上了閱讀。

大數(shù)據(jù)時(shí)代下的學(xué)習(xí)格局
在天悅這樣一所雙文化的國(guó)際學(xué)校里,對(duì)于學(xué)生的挑戰(zhàn)會(huì)更高,他們需要具備全球化的視野和世界公民的責(zé)任心,需要具有跨學(xué)科的知識(shí)儲(chǔ)備、批判性思維方式,需要擁有能解決21世紀(jì)社會(huì)問題的實(shí)操技能。同樣在天悅圖書館,孩子們除了享受閱讀外,還將系統(tǒng)學(xué)習(xí)如何利用信息技術(shù)享用在線資源,查找、收集、詮釋、篩選有效信息。
在多媒體教室除了配備大量有聲讀物、電子書籍、影像資料、在線數(shù)據(jù)庫等軟件以外,學(xué)校還將提供蘋果電腦、Ipad等硬件設(shè)施,由專業(yè)老師利用圖書館電子管理系統(tǒng)指導(dǎo)學(xué)生如何進(jìn)行更便捷、靈活的搜索。這里同時(shí)也是一個(gè)信息共享空間,吸引并鼓勵(lì)高年級(jí)的學(xué)生一同交流、合作、共享多元的學(xué)習(xí)格局。
大數(shù)據(jù)時(shí)代信息無窮無盡,天悅信息技術(shù)部將有效支持圖書館數(shù)據(jù)信息的處理分析,以達(dá)到資源利用最大化。每個(gè)學(xué)期通過信息整合,老師會(huì)對(duì)學(xué)生的閱讀情況一目了然,比如各個(gè)班級(jí)的閱讀量,每人每周平均借閱了幾本圖書,哪些書的借閱率比較高等等。作為一所十六年一貫制的學(xué)校,當(dāng)孩子們畢業(yè)踏出校門的時(shí)候,除了一紙證書以外,他們還會(huì)獲得一份含金量更高的個(gè)人書單,記錄著他們從進(jìn)入天悅天起所讀過的所有書目,記錄他們的成長(zhǎng)軌跡。
讓智慧與意志圓滿發(fā)展
所謂“腹有詩書氣自華,最是書香能致遠(yuǎn)”。三毛也曾說過“讀書多了,容顏?zhàn)匀桓淖儭TS多時(shí)候,自己可能以為許多看過的書籍都成了過眼煙云,不復(fù)記憶,其實(shí)他們?nèi)允菨撛诘摹T跉赓|(zhì)里,在談吐上,在胸襟的無涯。當(dāng)然,也能顯露在生活和文字中。”天悅渴望孩子們能在一個(gè)優(yōu)雅別致的環(huán)境中,感受到閱讀的力量,在書中汲取養(yǎng)分,豐盈內(nèi)心,明心見性。剛剛過去的世界讀書日只不過是,然而一年有三百六十五天。一所學(xué)校,若能盛行讀書之風(fēng)絕非一日之功,閱讀必將是師生未來身體力行的持續(xù)積淀。
JOY EL's Library
The library at JOY EL will be the heart of the school, as libraries often are. It will be a vibrant haven, rich in print (both Chinese and English) and also in online resources and books which will meet the needs of our students. It will be a welcoming space for all our readers, and an academic hub where independent learners can grow.
JOY EL attaches great importance to building the learning abilities of our students as our aim is they will all become lifelong learners. We give careful consideration to the development of their cognitive abilities at different ages and stages. By assisting, inspiring and guiding, we build a full library system to help them develop their own reading habits. This will provide a strong support platform upon which our students can successfully complete their education.
Once students start reading, the more they read, the more they appreciate its significance and value. Reading is not just becoming more informed about the world around us; it is also an important way to stimulate one’s thinking abilities, and to experience the emotions of being absorbed in a book!
Reading is a vital element in education, and is the basis of learning. A good book brings a wonderful experience. When we open a book, we are embarking upon a colorful journey. In books, we find warm sunshine, gurgling water, colorful seasons, fresh air, fragrance and fruit trees in abundance. The more books you read, the more engrossed you become in the world.
The library team at JOY EL will not only develop and maintain our resources, but furthermore will provide instruction for our students in order to help them grow as independent critical thinkers and problem solvers. Our focus will be to promote literacy by providing a wide variety of titles that will appeal to our student population, as well as opportunities for our school community to meet authors, illustrators and story tellers. In this digital era, a time of rapidly evolving technology, information is easily accessible. However, it can also be overwhelming. It is therefore crucial to teach students proper information and digital literacy skills. This will be covered in our library classes, co-managed by our library staff and our classroom teachers.
Education enhances the value of life. When we embrace the essence of reading and reading in education, and are dedicated to developing every child into a lifelong reading enthusiast, we will see the real power of education. Our children will understand their social responsibility, will inherit, develop and create a spirit of exploration in this peaceful and beautiful world. At JOY EL we will have readers of all genres of texts, knowledgeable, true readers, walking along the path towards wisdom. They will be world citizens in the future. They will have a wonderful journey to a better society and a better world through reading.
Finally, our JOY EL library will be a friendly and welcoming venue where our JOY EL family and its wider associates can build a wonderful community together. It will be a truly special place, the heart of our school!
