　　Other than的用法

　　一、other than原意為“與……不同的”。例如：

　　1. Here is a tool other than yours. 這里的工具不是你的。(直譯為：這里放著的是與你的工具不同的工具。)

　　2. We have done many experiments other than this one. 我們做了與這個(gè)實(shí)驗(yàn)不同的許多實(shí)驗(yàn)。

　　3. Reactions other than the desired one often occur when the reactants are brought together. 當(dāng)這些反應(yīng)物放在一起時(shí)，常發(fā)生不希望有的一些反應(yīng)。(原意為：……常發(fā)生與希望的反應(yīng)不同的反應(yīng)。)

　　4. These animals are different in other ways than shape. 這些動(dòng)物差別不在形狀，而在別的方面。

　　二、other than常�？勺g為“除了……以外”。例如：

　　1. I have not studied any language other than Chinese. 除了漢語(yǔ)以外，我沒(méi)學(xué)過(guò)任何其它語(yǔ)言。

　　2. Under some conditions chemical energy is liberated during a chemical reaction in forms other than heat. 在某些條件下，在化學(xué)反應(yīng)期間，化學(xué)能還能以除了熱能以外的其他形式釋放出來(lái)。

　　3. The law takes into account forms of energy other than those discussed so far. 除了到目前為止所討論的那些能量形式以外，該定律還考慮了其它能量形式。

　　4. He could not do it other than hurriedly. 他只能匆匆忙忙地做了那件事。

　　三、no…other than作“除……外……不”解。例如：

　　1. No fuels other than petroleum will be fit for this purpose. 除石油外其他燃料都將不適于這種用途。

　　2. We can think of no other example than this. 除了這個(gè)例子以外，我們想不出別的來(lái)了。

　　四、none(或no)other than(…)作“不是別的，正是……”解，例如：

　　1. It is none other than zinc. 這就是鋅。(這不是別的，正是鋅。)

　　2. The tall man that I saw was no (或none) other than Comrade Wang. 我看見(jiàn)那個(gè)高個(gè)子不是別人，正是王同志。

　　1.不同于2.非 I borrowed some books other than novels.我借了幾本書(shū)，都不是小說(shuō)。3.除了(=but,expect)There is nobody hereother than me.除了我以外沒(méi)有別人。You can go there other than by swimming.除了游泳以外你無(wú)法到哪里。在我看來(lái)，第一句和第二句不一樣，Do other than accept.(iciba)去做而不是接受。I can't do other than obey.(zhidao)我不能做什么只能接受。如果需要更確切的應(yīng)該聯(lián)系上下文。
